How to Automatically Launch Apps When You Start Your Computer in Windows 11

Imagine turning on your computer and finding all your go-to apps ready and waiting for you. No more clicking around to get started—sounds convenient, right?

With Windows 11, you can set your favorite apps to open automatically every time you log in. It’s super easy to set up and can help you (and your team) jump into work faster.

How to Enable Auto-Launch for Apps

For many apps, you can enable automatic launch directly from your computer’s settings. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Click on Apps
  3. Select Startup

You’ll see a list of apps that support auto-launch. Simply toggle the switch next to the apps you want to open automatically. The next time you start your computer, these apps will be ready to go.

What if My App Isn’t in the Startup List?

Not all apps appear in the Startup section. If your app isn’t listed, don’t worry—you can still set it up to launch automatically using the Windows Startup folder.

Here’s how:

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type shell:startup and click OK.
  3. In the Startup folder that appears, add a shortcut for the app you want to auto-launch.

To create a shortcut, locate the app’s executable file (it’s often an .exe file in your Program Files folder), right-click it, and select Create Shortcut. Drag or copy this shortcut into the Startup folder.

A Quick Tip: Less Is More

While it’s tempting to auto-launch all your favorite apps, loading too many at once can slow down your computer. Stick to the essentials—apps you use daily or need immediately after logging in.
