Our smartphones are like treasure troves of personal information. From our financial details, personal messages, banking apps, photos, and contact information – everything is stored behind that little glass screen. Don’t forget to secure your smartphone!

And if your team uses phones for work, they can gain access to company systems such as email, contact lists, network access, and file systems. So, it’s crucial to keep them as secure as any other device in your workplace, or else it can pose a significant risk to your cyber security.

Unfortunately, criminals know this too well, and they target us through our phones just as much as they do through our networks and servers. But it’s not just cybercrime that we should be worried about. Losing or having your phone stolen can also put your data at a massive risk.

Whether you issue company smartphones or allow your employees to use their own, it’s essential to ensure that everyone implements some straightforward security steps to protect your data and avoid disaster.

First and foremost, ensure that your people set up a PIN and biometric login, such as a fingerprint or face scan, to open the device. Install apps only from trusted sources to make sure you’re using genuine software, and enable Multi-Factor Authentication on all apps that store even a small amount of sensitive data.

Be mindful of where you connect to Wi-Fi. If you work remotely or often connect to public networks, consider using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to add another layer of security. You never know who might be monitoring traffic on a public network.

Last but not least, ALWAYS make sure your phone is running the latest version of its operating software, and keep all apps up to date.

Smartphones have revolutionized the way we live both at home and work. However, it’s too easy to take them for granted, and that can be a costly mistake. So, if you need help keeping your smartphones safe, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
