Microsoft recently announced a significant change for Windows 10 users – starting from October 14, 2025, free support and security updates will no longer be provided. While the idea of paying for updates might raise some concerns, let’s break it down for you. By 2025, Windows 10 will be a decade old, and Microsoft is likely to have introduced Windows 12. Plus, Windows 11 is already available today.

Managing support for multiple old operating systems is a complex task, even for a tech giant like Microsoft. Although 2025 may seem distant, it’s wise to start considering your options now. Here they are:

Option 1: Upgrade to Windows 11 Microsoft recommends switching to Windows 11, which comes with fantastic features and free updates until its end of life.

Option 2: Stick with Windows 10 and pay You can choose to remain with Windows 10, but security updates will require payment (no new features, though). The exact cost is yet to be determined, likely in the form of a subscription for monthly updates.

Option 3: Stick with Windows 10 and don’t update it While you can continue using Windows 10 without paying, it’s not advisable. Without updates, your PCs become vulnerable to threats and security issues. With no Microsoft support, even tech experts have nowhere to turn for help. Please avoid this option!

You have until October 2025 to decide, so there’s no need to rush. However, if you want your business to thrive, we highly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 sooner rather than later. This will provide immediate benefits, improving processes and making your team’s jobs easier.

If you’re considering the move to Windows 11 or exploring other options, we’re here to help make the transition smooth and hassle-free. Feel free to get in touch.
